Amaryllis Hippeastrum

I recently received a gift of two amaryllis Hippeastrum plants! What a delightful surprise. I haven’t grown these in years, so this is a wonderful opportunity for me to try again. These plants are found during this time of the year and a nice way to start an indoor garden. The flowers are huge!  IMG_2918The flowers enjoy growing in a sunny spot.

The ones that I received are Red Lion (solid red) and Minerva (red and white). They come in boxes complete with the plastic container,  soil, and bulb. For those who are fortunate enough to already have an amaryllis Hippeastrum, but want to make it bloom again, here’s a useful website on how to do so:

With proper care, these plants can live and flower for many years. Happy holidays!
