Giant Sequoia Seedling!

No, it’s not an oxymoron, it’s the free tree that I just picked up this morning from Lowe’s! They’re giving away tree seedlings today (April 23) to commemorate Earth Day, and in my case, the store is giving away giant sequoia tree seedlings (Sequoiadendron giganteum). On the information tag, it says, “Very large evergreen tree.” Wow!

The root ball looks very healthy. I will be planting it today in a container and keep it there for at least a year until it is strong enough and when I can figure out its permanent location.

This is the tree seedling that I got. What type of tree seedling did you get in today’s free tree giveaway?
