Fuchsia Revelation and Identification

My fuchsia flowers have made their debut, with more en route, I am happy to report! But now, I’m in the middle of a mystery: Just exactly which fuchsia is this? I’ve attached two photos. In the first is one of the flowers that has bloomedimg_1388img_1387 and looks clean and neat: white sepals with the faintest green on their tips, and a deep purple corolla. In the second is another flower, from the same plant, but “expired” and dropped off the plant. Its corolla is clearly the deep pink “fuchsia” color that many of us are familiar with. Based on these photos, I’m not sure which fuchsia this really is. Based on the first photo, my guess was that it is a fuchsia known as “Star Wars,” but now, with the “expired” flower’s characteristics, I’m in a bit of a mystery in making a final flower identification. Any guesses?

I’m not very experienced with fuchsias, so other guesses would be greatly appreciated! Before reaching my initial guess, on the list of contenders was Delta’s Sarah and Martha’s Vineyard varieties. I’ll update the tags to my fuchsia posts when the true identity is revealed!

A very good and helpful website, with many helpful photos of fuchsia varieties (I clicked on each one!) can be found here, at the Salford & Bolton Fuchsia Society website in the UK (also contains great information on fuchsia care and propagation from cuttings, which I’ll do!) – check it out: http://www.salfordboltonfuchsiasociety.co.uk/index2.htm?photos_index.htm&3
