Overnight Winds Mean More Clean-Up!

I was this close to getting my back and front yards cleaned up for autumn! Well, overnight winds up to 30 mph changed the situation. In my backyard, it’s not so bad: my garden is fine, with a few random leaves to rake, but a new patio umbrella that didn’t make it. The pole bent in half and the umbrella ribs pulled upward. I’ll see if I can fix it. Fortunately, based on last year’s experience, when my previous umbrella became airborne and landed in my neighbor’s yard 30 feet away (!), I had already used sturdy rope to tie the new umbrella around its crank and secured the other end of the rope to the heavy umbrella stand. No more flyaways!

My front yard – sigh! Leaves from my parkway trees are now covering my front lawn. I’ll wait until the winds subside to rake them up. It’s definitely autumn!
