Dragon tree, how do you do it? A little over a year ago, I had a few branches of my mature dragon tree trimmed, but kept all of the tree branch cuttings, placing most in 5-gallon containers.
Once again, this powerhouse of a tree surprises me: one of these cuttings has not only survived in its 5-gallon [...]

Following up on the last post, here is a photo of my mature dragon tree (aka Dracaena draco), branching. The beautiful branching habit of this incredible tree provides the structure for its dome-shaped canopy. Click on the photo to see how each earlier branch spawned at least 2 new branches, and so on!

It’s that time of the year again, when my beloved, mature dragon tree (aka Dracaena draco) is in flower. A few of these flower spike are now dotting this tree. Presumably, branching occurs when the tree flowers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracaena_draco

This is one of my dragon tree cuttings, in a petite 5-gallon container. Click on the photo and look at the bottom, slightly left of center – you’ll notice a very healthy root! This cutting was taken nearly one year ago. The wait was definitely worth it. The only care I provide it is water it [...]

I have one very mature dragon tree and a less mature one. Both have shown, expectedly, branch regeneration. Since my Spring tree trimming of the mature tree, I’ve been keeping an eye on the cut branches for any sign of new life. Well, there’s new life! Click on the far right photo to have a [...]

Indeed, it’s true! I was doing a little bit of weeding this morning and found that a very late-growing tomato plant (likely cherry tomato) is producing a few tomatoes! Click on the photo and look at the top center to get a better view of the lovely green fruits!
As reported in my posts earlier in [...]

I would not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes! Back in May of this year, my much-beloved dragon tree (aka drago tree and Dracaena draco) was trimmed, to remove branches that were growing into my garage. I save most cuttings and placed them in containers, to propagate them, and they’re [...]

It’s true! Following a tree trimming in late May of this year, I have kept a close eye on the cuttings I’d saved from my dragon tree (aka Dracaena draco and drago tree), planted in containers for propagation. In about 4 months’ time, a few of these cuttings have shown unexpected but exciting new growth! The photo on the [...]

Dracaena deremensis “Janet Craig” is often known as an indoor plant, but mine has been outdoors for many years, in light shade. Actually, it is in the same family of plants as my much-beloved dragon tree (aka Dracaeno draco or drago tree).
In the process of reorganizing my front yard garden areas, for the time being, I’ve [...]

It’s been about a 1-1/2 months since my dragon tree seedlings (Dracaena draco, dragon tree, drago tree) made their first appearance in their container. Here’s an updated photo of these lovely darlings! It’s interesting to know that these very soft, pliable leaves will eventually be replaced with splendid, long, more rigid leaves when mature.
These seedlings, which I propagated [...]
